WASHINGTON, DC—The South Carolina State women's basketball team will close out their three-game road Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) swing Monday (Jan.30) against Howard at Burr Gymnasium. Tipoff is 4 p.m.
South Carolina State (5-13 overall, 2-5 MEAC) is coming off a much needed 67-60 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday.
Bryeasha Blair scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 39 minutes of play to lead the Lady Bulldogs victory.
Brittany Drumgoole finished with 11 points and four assists, while
Jahmia Bradley added 10 points in the win. Blair also tallied 7-of-9 free-throws from the charity stripe.
Meanwhile, Howard (9-9 overall, 5-1 in the MEAC) ranks among the top in the league. The Bison have posted back-to-back victories over Savannah State (55-49) and North Carolina Central (73-50). HU has three players in double-figures leading the way with Te'Shya Heslip with 15.8 points and 5.1 rebounds. Syndi Johnson adds 11.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, while teammate Erin Blaine chips in 10.1 points 5.2 rebounds. Imani Bryant is the leader on the boards with 8.1 while scoring 6.9.
South Carolina State returns home this Saturday (Feb.4) to host Norfolk State in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 2 p.m., with the men following in a 4 p.m. start.
