ORANGEBURG, SC-The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs (8-11 overall, 4-5 MEAC) look to turn things around when they take on the visiting Lady Eagles of Coppin State Saturday ( Feb.6) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
Fans who cannot attend the game in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, can listen to the MEAC showdown on 93.7 FM the People's Station and the official station of SC State Athletics, with Paul Harris and Clarence Jones on the air for the play-by-play. Brittany Drumgoole leads South Carolina State with 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Jasmine Coleman is chipping in 7.1 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Senior guard
Amber Howard is adding 8.6 points and 2.4 assists.
ABOUT THE EAGLESThe Lady Eagles are 7-12 and are coming off a 72-51 setback loss to Morgan State. Coppin State is 4-3 in MEAC play and is 2-1 in its last three games.
Five Lady Eagles are averaging at least 8.0 points per game. Four of those players are in the top 30 in scoring in the MEAC.
Keena Samuels is putting in a team-leading 11.6 points per game. She has scored in double figures in every MEAC game this season. Omaah Tayong leads the Lady Eagles in rebounding. Her 8.3 rebounds per game ranks fourth in the MEAC. Tayong is adding 9.1 points for Coppin State. Genesis Lucas leads Coppin State in steals (38) and assists (68) through 17 games. She has led the Lady Eagles in steals 14 times and assists 21 times in her career. She is scoring on a 7.9 point per game clip in 34.8 minutes per game.
