Box Score CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson University women's basketball defeated South Carolina State 56-36 on Sunday afternoon at Littlejohn Coliseum.
SC State (3-9) started the game hot and scored the first four points on back-to-back buckets by Mallory Stone. The Lady Bulldogs kept Clemson (9-2) without a field goal until Chyna Cotton hit a layup with 2:43 left in the opening period. SC State closed out the quarter ahead 12-11.
The Tigers woke up in the second quarter, outscoring SC State 18-0 to go into halftime with a 20-12 lead.
Clemson pushed its lead to 30 points (44-14) after a 3-pointer by Victoria Cardaci with 2:07 left in the third quarter.
SC State managed 16 points in the final period, but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers' large lead.
Nelly Perry and Jaia Alexander scored in double figures for Clemson with 17 and 10 points, respectively.
Bryeasha Blair finished with seven points and five rebounds, while Brittany Drumgoole and Alexis Scott each tallied six points. Jahmia Bradley had four points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs have a few days off before traveling to Statesboro, Ga. to take on Georgia Southern at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
