Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Despite getting a game-high 20 points from
Brittany Drumgoole, the SC State women's basketball team fell 65-50 at Bethune-Cookman on Monday night at Moore Gymnasium.
B-CU improves to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Lady Bulldogs fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
The Lady Wildcats led 14-11 after the first quarter and outscored SC State 21-12 in the second period to go into halftime with a 35-23 lead.
B-CU maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the entire third quarter, leading by as many as 18 points (47-31). The Lady Bulldogs rallied in the final period and got within 10, 58-48, on back-to-back 3-pointers by Drumgoole and a layup by
Jasmine Coleman with 5:11 left in the game. But the Lady Wildcats went on a 7-2 run to end the game and earn their first MEAC win of the season.
Ashanti Hunt led B-CU in scoring with 17 points. Angel Golden and Jasmine Knowles both scored in double figures with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Kailyn Williams had a team-best 10 rebounds.
For SC State,
Jasmine Coleman had eight points, 10 boards, two blocks and a steal.
Bria Ratliff and
Jazzmine Johnson each added eight points.
SC State returns to action on Saturday in a 2 p.m. game at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
