This will be the third meeting between the two schools with Akron leading the All-Time Series 2-0. Last Meeting: Akron 85, S.C. State 59 December 19, 1989 at James A Rhodes Arena

Defensively, the Bulldogs have allowed opponents to score 75.3 points a night on 45.4 percent shooting from the field (358-of-788) and 36.5 percent from downtown (105-of-288). S.C. State caused 187 turnovers (13.4 tpg) while collecting 77 steals (5.5 spg) and 28 blocked shots (2.0 bpg).
The Bulldogs average 71.4 points per game on 42.0 percent shooting from the field (356-of-847) and 34.4 percent from 3-point range (86-of-250).
Meanwhile, The Zips are 2-0 over MEAC opponents this season, defeating Coppin State (77-71) and Bethune-Cookman (81-60). Three of Akron's starting five players average double-digits in scoring led by senior center Pat Forsythe and sophomore guard Noah Robotham with 11.8 and 11.6 points per game, respectively. Forsythe earned MAC East Player of the Week honors (Nov. 30-Dec. 7) after registering back-to-back 20-point performances. Sophomore guard Antino Jackson adds 11.4 ppg and a team-high 45 assists (4.1 apg).
The Bulldogs close out their Midwest swing Saturday (Jan. 2) against Miami of Ohio in Oxford. Tip-off is 3:30 p.m. (EST) and will be televised live on ESPN3.com
