Inside the Games: The South Carolina State women's basketball team resumes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend with games at North Carolina Central on Saturday (2 p.m.) and at North Carolina A&T on Monday (5:30 p.m.). The Lady Bulldogs went 1-2 over the Christmas break, falling 66-57 to Clemson and 65-46 to Furman, while defeating College of Charleston 60-51. In the last outing against Furman,
Kourtney Williams led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points and six rebounds. Williams paces the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game.
Jasmine Coleman leads the way in rebounds and blocks per game with 5.8 and 1.5, respectively.
North Carolina Central (2-12, 0-2 MEAC) is on a nine-game losing streak after dropping a 69-55 decision to Wofford on Tuesday. NCCU's two wins came against Western Carolina (64-59) and UNC Asheville (55-52). On the season, Raquel Davis leads the Eagles in scoring and rebounding with 14.1 points and 9.3 boards per game.
North Carolina A&T takes on Savannah State at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Aggies are 8-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play and are coming off an 87-41 win over Guilford College on Monday. April McRae is the team's top scorer (10.4 ppg) and Eboni Ross is the team's leading rebounder (7.6 rpg).

Last Meeting vs. North Carolina Central (3-1-14): North Carolina Central's Jessica Freeman scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Lady Eagles to a 60-43 win over visiting South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Contest.
Freeman, who had all but one of NCCU's eight second-half field goals, had 21 of her total in the second half. Racquel Davis, the only other Lady Eagle in double figures, added 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in the victory. The win gave NCCU a sweep of the series with the Lady Bulldogs this season and lifted the Lady Eagles to 10-17 on the year and 5-9 in the MEAC.
Last Meeting vs. North Carolina A&T (3-3-14): SC State guard
Kourtney Williams had 13 points and
Deja Jackson added 10 and a career-high 14 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Lady Bulldogs fell 52-42 to North Carolina A&T. SC State fell to 7-18 overall and 5-10 in the MEAC with the loss.
The Lady Aggies, the second-place team in the conference behind Hampton, won their ninth in a row to improve to 23-4 on the season and 13-2 in the league. NC A&T, which earned a sweep of this year's series with SC State, was led by Tracy King with 13 points and DeAndra Davis with 10. April McRae had 10 rebounds to lead the Aggies on the boards.
Looking Ahead: Next weekend, the Lady Bulldogs make the long trip to play at Delaware State on Saturday (4 p.m.) in Dover, Del. and Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday (5:30 p.m.) in Princess Anne, Md.
