Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Holli Wilkins led three Furman players in double figures with 17 points to lift the visiting Paladins to a 65-46 nonconference win over South Carolina State Sunday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

Brittany Hodges added 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds and Whitney Bunn 10 points and as many rebounds in the win, only the second in five road games for Furman, which improved to 10-5 on the season and evened the series against SC State at 2-2.

Kourtney Williams, the only player in double figures for SC State, tossed in a game-high 18 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs, who lost only their second home game in nine outings to fall to 8-5 on the season. Amber Howard added nine points and Jasmine Coleman came of the bench for seven points for Coach Doug Robertson's squad.

The Lady Bulldogs played without starting guard Jazzmine Johnson, who was nursing a knee injury.

Furman leaped out to a 30-8 lead on Hodges inside basket with 12:07 left in the opening half, but SC State closed the period on 19-3 run to close the gap to 33-27 at the break. The Lady Bulldogs were only six behind, 39-33, with 16:20 left in the game when they hit an 8-minute drought as Furman scored 10 unanswered points to go ahead 49-33 on a 3-pointer by Kelsey Ellis, who finished with just six points, with both baskets coming from behind the arc.

The Lady Bulldogs could only get to within 14 points, 49-35, when Coleman got a layup with 8:14 showing.

SC State connected on just 26.3 percent of its shots to 35.3 for Furman. The Bulldogs also lost the battle on the boards 50-31, as Furman had three players to pull down double digit rebounds. In addition to Hodges (12) and Bunn (10), Sarah Durdaller had 11 to go with seven points.

The contest was the final nonconference action for SC State, which resumes its MEAC schedule Saturday at North Carolina Central in a league doubleheader that gets underway at 2 p.m.
