ELON, NC—The South Carolina State women's tennis team suffered an, 6-1, defeat Tuesday (Jan.20) to 75th-ranked Elon University at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

It was the season-opener for the defending MEAC Champion Lady Bulldogs who got off to a slow start losing the doubles points early.

Sophomore Intissar Rassif posted the only singles win for SC State at the No. 1 spot with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Olivia Lucas.

South Carolina State will return to action on Sunday (Jan. 25) when they host SCAD (Savannah College Arts & Design) at the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.  First serve is 12:30 p.m.
