: The SC State women's basketball team hits the road to Dover, Del. and Princess Anne Md. this weekend to play two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games at Delaware State on Saturday (2 p.m.) and at Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday (5:30 p.m.). The Lady Bulldogs are 8-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play after dropping two games last weekend to North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T. Kourtney Williams leads the team in scoring 15.2 points per game, while Jasmine Coleman is the team's top defender with 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Delaware State (3-11, 1-1 MEAC) is currently on a two-game winning streak after recording wins against Howard on Monday and Wilmington on Wednesday. The Lady Hornets have three players averaging double figures in Tierra Hawkins (17.7 ppg), Raven Bankston (17.1 ppg) and Amber Bogard (11.9 ppg). Defensively, Hawkins grabs a team-best eight rebounds per game.

Seeing Double: Senior guard Kourtney Williams has scored in double figures in 14 of SC State's 15 games this season. She dropped in a season-high 21 points in the season opener against Allen University. She also had at least 20 points in two other games (Columbia College and NC A&T) this season. Through 15 games, she is averaging 15.2 points per game.

On the Block: Junior forward Jasmine Coleman is leading the team with 1.5 blocks per game in 15 games this season. She had a season-high four blocks in back-to-back games last month against UNCG and Alabama A&M. She has been a welcomed defensive presence for the Lady Bulldogs as she leads the squad with 5.7 rebounds per game and gets 1.7 steals per contest.

Going for 1,000: Kourtney Williams is just 103 points away from accumulating 1,000 career points. Coming in to this season, she had 669 points and has scored 228 as of the NC A&T game on Jan. 12. With at least 13 games left in the season, she should not have a problem making her way into the 1,000-point club.

Looking Ahead: The Lady Bulldogs return to the S-H-M Memorial Center next weekend after a season-long, four-game road swing. SC State hosts Norfolk State at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 24) and Hampton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 26). The homestand continues into the following weekend with a 4 p.m. matchup with Delaware State on Jan. 31.

Last Meeting vs. Delaware State (2-8-14): Graduate guard Cabriel Duren had 21 points, including 13 in the second half, to help South Carolina State to a 64-60 win over host Delaware State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest at Memorial Hall. Duren, the only Lady Bulldog in double figures, scored her team's final seven points. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for SC State which improved to 6-14 overall and 4-6 in the MEAC. Delaware State was paced by Raven Bankston with 26 points and Deanna Harmon with 12. The Lady Hornets, whose only win in conference play came Feb 1 (86-66) at Morgan State, fell to 6-15 and 1-8 in the league.

Last Meeting vs. Maryland Eastern Shore (12-30-13): South Carolina State's Kourtney Williams had 15 points to lead four Lady Bulldogs in double figures as SC State snapped a six-game losing streak with a 63-50 win over visiting Maryland Eastern Shore. It was only the second win of the season for SC State, which improved to 2-8 on the season. Also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs were Dayshaun Richbow with 12 points and Cherisha Floyd and reserve Lynasia Frazier with 10 each. Persephone Goodwin led SC State on the boards with eight rebounds and added four points. The Lady Bulldogs won despite shooting just 38 percent from the floor and being outrebounded 56-36 by UMES, which dipped to 3-9 on the season and 0-1 in the MEAC. The Lady Hawks had their troubles as well, hitting just 26.2 percent of their shots and committing 30 turnovers to 22 miscues for SC State.
