Box Score COLUMBIA, SC – Reserve freshman center Alaina Coates had a perfect game, connecting on 7 of 7 attempts from the floor and all nine attempts from the line for 23 points to lead 10th-ranked South Carolina to a 70-26 victory over an over-matched and undermanned SC State team on Sunday at Colonial Life Arena.

Coates, who notched her first-ever perfect game, as well as a career point total as a Gamecock, played just 17 minutes in the contest. The Irmo, SC native was the only player in double figures for either team.

The Lady Bulldogs, who were playing their third game in five days and the sixth and final contest of a 6-game, 26-day road odyssey, were led by reserve Mykala Jones with seven points, all in the second half. Junior Kourtney Williams, the team's top scorer with an 18.8 average entering the contest, had six points but was just three of 14 from the field.

Lynasia Frazier, another reserve, had five points, all in the second half for SC State, which lost for the sixth consecutive time to fall to 1-8 on the season.

The USC defense held SC State to its lowest point total of the season and also its worst shooting percentage (24.5) of the campaign.

USC, which was coming off a 74-66 loss to 13th ranked North Carolina, improved to 11-1 on the season.
Coach Doug Robertson's Lady Bulldogs will take a holiday break before returning to action Dec. 30 in its MEAC opener against Maryland-Eastern Shore at S-H-M Memorial Center. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
