SC State Women’s Basketball Host Presbyterian in Regular Season Home-opener

SC State Athletics Department holds Thanksgiving Food Drive

Orangeburg, S.C.—After opening its 2013-14 season with two straight road games, the SC State women's basketball team will host Presbyterian College, tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 21 in its 2013-14 regular season home-opener. Tip off for Thursday's contest is set for 6 p.m. in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Anyone bringing a canned good or non-perishable food item will receive a $3 general admission ticket as part of the Athletics Department Thanksgiving Food Drive. Regular ticket prices are $5 general admission and youth, and $10 reserved seating.

SC State enters tomorrow's contest with a 0-2 overall record after falling to USC-Upstate by one, 57-58, on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Kourtney Williams led all scorers with 26 points. Williams is currently averaging 24 points and six rebounds in two games. Persephone Goodwin is the Lady Bulldogs leading rebounder at 9.5 boards per outing.

Presbyterian picked up its first win of the season on Monday (Nov. 18) as they cruised past Columbia College, 96-38. The Blue Hose, who brings a 1-3 overall record into tomorrow night's contest, is led in scoring by Rebecca Walker and Keyonna Allen at 8.5 points each. Noelle Carter leads the team in rebounding at six boards per outing.

The Lady Bulldogs will hit the road for its next six contests beginning next Tuesday, Nov. 26, when they travel to Athens, Ga. to face the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. SC State will travel to College of Charleston (11-30), Clemson (12-14), Alabama A&M (12-17), Jacksonville State (12-19) and South Carolina (12-22) before returning home to open its 2013-14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on December 30.
