SC State Falls to NJIT in Women’s Soccer

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's soccer team fell to NJIT, 0-1, in a Saturday afternoon matchup at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 6-10-1 while NJIT improved to 6-9 on the season.

Despite outshooting NJIT 7-4 including a 6-4 corner kick advantage, SC State could not find the back of the net. Junior Dominique Brown was the leading striker for SC State with two shots, both on goal. NJIT's lone goal came midway through the first half as Carly Berdan knocked the ball pass the goalkeeper off an assist from Amanda Redden at the 35:30 mark.

The Lady Bulldogs will close out its 2013 season this Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they host Francis Marion. First kick is set for 7 p.m. in the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on the campus of SC State.

Note: SC State honored its seniors in a pre-game ceremony. Five seniors, Kaitlynn Cortez, Rebecca Dale, Megan Diggs, Tori Papp, and Kaitlynn Penner, were honored during the ceremony.
