Charleston, S.C.— SC State outscored Charleston Southern 44-25 in the first half to pick up the 73-57 non-conference win Wednesday night at the Buc Dome on the campus of Charleston Southern.

The win was the third straight for the Lady Bulldogs and their sixth in seven outings.

Senior Tiara Knotts scored a team-high 16 points including 4-of-7 from behind the arc to pace SC State.  Knotts, pulled in six rebounds with two steals in the contest, is leading the team in scoring at 15.7 per outing.

Charleston Southern was led by Erin Bratcher who scored a game-high 17 points and six rebounds.

After playing to 4-4 tie over opening two minutes, SC State took control of the contest.  The Lady Bulldogs used a 7-2 run over the next four plus minutes to take a seven point lead, 6-13.  Charleston Southern used an 11-6 run of their own to close the gap to two, 17-19, at the 9:02 mark.  A jumper by Cochran at the 8:11 mark sparked an 8-0 run to help SC State pushed its lead to 10, 27-17, with 7:27 remaining in the half.  The Lady Bulldogs closed the first half on a 17-8 run to enjoy a 19 point lead heading into intermission up 44-25.
