SC State Falls to Georgia in Women’s Basketball

Athens, Ga.—The SC State women's basketball team fell to the University of Georgia, 46-62, in a non-conference matchup in Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.  With the loss the Lady Bulldogs fall to 1-1 in the early season while the Georgia Bulldogs improved to 3-0.

Senior Tiara Knotts was the only SC State player to record in double-digits as she dropped in 13 points off 5-of-13 shooting from the field including 2-of-4 from three-point range.  Senior Fannie Goodwin had a well-balanced game with nine points, six rebounds, one block and three steals.  Senior Paris Alston pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs in the loss.

Georgia was led in scoring by Anne Marie Armstrong with 14 points.  Erika Ford contributed 10 points while Merritt Hempe scored seven points with nine rebounds in the victory.

SC State will travel to Clinton, S.C. to face the Blue Hose of Presbyterian next Tuesday, Nov. 20 before breaking for the Thanksgiving holiday.  After the holiday, SC State will have four straight home games including back-to-back contests.  The Lady Bulldogs will host Southern Wesleyan and Jacksonville on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 27 and 28, respectively, before opening its 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play on Saturday and Monday, Dec. 1 and 3 versus Hampton and Norfolk State.
