SC State Women’s Basketball Opens Three-Game Road Swing Saturday

Lady Bulldogs Begin Three-Game Road Swing Saturday
Orangeburg, S.C.—After a three-game home stand to open the 2012 calendar year, the SC State women's basketball team hit the road for three straight conference matches beginning this Saturday (Jan. 14), when they take on the Lady Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University.  During the road-swing the Lady Bulldogs will face Florida A&M on Monday (Jan. 16) and Savannah State next Saturday (Jan. 21).

SC State (7-8, 2-2 MEAC) is coming off a 39-57 loss to Coppin State on Monday (Jan. 9) which snapped a mini two-game win streak.  Junior Trinese Fox led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with nine points and seven rebounds. Junior Paris Alston also had a balanced game with eight points, six rebounds and three blocks in the contest.

On the season, juniors Tiara Knotts and Tiana Hemphill are leading the way in scoring and rebounding averaging 12.7 and 8.5, respectively.  Alston is a having a solid season as she is averaging 7.9 points and 6.1 rebounds on the season.

Bethune–Cookman enters the game with a 4-11 overall record and 1-2 in the MEAC.  The Lady Wildcats snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-54 conference win over North Carolina Central on Monday (Jan.9).  Bethune-Cookman is led in scoring and rebounding by Jasmine Elum and Demetria Frank who are averaging 14.3 and 7.2, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs next home game will be Monday, Jan. 31 when they host the Lady Bison of Howard University.
