Box Score
Orangeburg, S.C.—Junior guard Tiara Knotts scored a career-high 28 points as SC State defeated Charleston Southern, 68-65, in a non-conference women's basketball match-up in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.  The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Lady Bulldogs.

Despite having a poor shooting day at the charity stripe (7-17 for 41 %), SC State (2-2), had a well-balanced game overall.  The Lady Bulldogs shot 57 percent from the field and 55 percent from the three-point range while out-rebounding Charleston Southern, 37-30.

SC State had two players to record double-digits as junior center Paris Alston dropped in 10 points on the night.  In addition to her outstanding scoring efforts, Knotts pulled in six rebounds with three assists and three steals.  Junior forward Tiana Hemphill continued to play solid for the Lady Bulldogs as she dropped in eight points and pulled in a game-high nine rebounds.

“It's always good to go into a long road-swing with a win,” said fourth year head coach Doug Robertson, Jr.  “We still have some things we need to iron out but I'm confident that it will come together soon.”

Charleston Southern had three players in double figures, led by Rachelle Coward with 19.  Helen Terry dropped in 16 and Lakeitha Alston had 10 as the Buccaneers fell to 4-2 on the season. Anicia Dotson contributed nine points and eight rebounds in the losing effort.

SC State will hit the road for a six-game road swing beginning Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Athens, Ga. against the University of Georgia.  The Lady Bulldogs will then face Hampton (Dec. 2), Norfolk State (Dec. 5), Winthrop (Dec. 10), South Carolina (Dec. 14) and Coastal Carolina (Dec. 18) before returning home to host UNC-Asheville on December 18.

Note:  The Lady Bulldogs' lone senior Tracey Flowers returned to the lineup today after sitting out the first three games of the season.
