SC State Bowling Team Set To Compete In Wildcat Invite

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA—The South Carolina State women's bowling team will open up its 2011-12 season this weekend at the Wildcats Invitational Bowling Tournament from Oct. 28- 30 at Ormond Lanes.
        Coach Lorra S. Bailey enters her fourth season at the helm of the Lady Bulldog bowling program.  South Carolina State finished last season 24-39 overall, 12-11 in league play, and finished in third place in Southern Division behind Norfolk State and FAMU.
         The Lady Bulldogs return five players all-together from the 2010-11 team, including three graduating seniors in Stephanie Sinclair, Marina Ackers, and Brienna Jones. Sinclair, a four-year letterman leads a group of eager and determined young bowlers wanting to end their careers vying for their first MEAC Championship.
       “I really have to give these young women credit and for having a never-give-up attitude during the off season,” said SC State head coach Lorra Bailey. “I can't say enough about the character, fortitude, and their willingness to work through adversity, and how they have been there for each other as a team.”
      Competing in this year's Wildcat Invite will include 11 teams including SC State as well as host Bethune-Cookman,  Delaware State, Florida A&M, Morgan State, N.C. A&T, Southern, Tulane, UAB, Alabama State, Salem University, and Farleigh Dickinson University.
      Play will get underway Friday from 9:30-5:30 daily and admission is free to the public.
