Baltimore, MD—After a brief two-game home stand, the SC State women's basketball team hits the road for its final regular season road swing beginning this Saturday, Feb. 13 when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on the Lady Eagles of Coppin State.
SC State (7-15, 2-8 MEAC) snapped a three-game slide on Monday when they defeated Howard University, 74-67, in a MEAC matchup in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Senior Sophilia Hipps led the team in scoring with 16 points. Junior Whitney Wiley scored 15 and junior Joi Walker scored 11 points for SC State in the victory. Walker and sophomore Tiana Hemphill pulled in a game-high eight rebounds in the contest.
On the season Wiley and Hipps are leading the team in scoring averaging 14.5 and 13.6 respectively. Walker and freshman Paris Alston are leading the Lady Bulldogs in rebounding at six per contest.
Coppin State enters the contest at 8-13 overall and 4-6 in the MEAC. Jeanine Manley is leading the team in scoring and rebounding at 10.7 and 7.0 respectively.
SC State will remain in Baltimore to face Morgan State on Monday, Feb. 15. The Lady Bulldogs will then face North Carolina A&T (Feb. 20) and Norfolk State (Feb. 22) before returning home to close out the regular season.
