Durham, NC (12-30-09)—SC State closed out the 2009 calendar year with a 54-84 loss to North Carolina Central University at McDougald-McLendon Gym in Durham, NC.
Despite the loss, SC State, (4-7), had three players to score in double-figures led by
Sophilia Hipps and
Paris Alston who each pulled in 13.
Whitney Wiley contributed 10 points and
Joi Walker pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds. For the game, the Lady Bulldogs shot 24.2 percent from the field, 76.9 percent from the charity stripe and pulled in game-high 43 team rebound (24 defensive).
North Carolina Central (2-10) had five players to score in double-figures led by Joanna Miller who scored 23 points with eight rebounds. Shanise Blanks (17), Latoya Bennett (13), and Danielle DeBerry and Blaire Houston scored 12 each in the victory for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Bulldogs will open the New Year on the road in Savannah, GA when they take the Lady Tigers of Savannah State on Monday, Jan. 4.
