SC State Falls to Presbyterian College in Women’s Basketball

Clinton, SC—The SC State women's basketball team saw its mini two-game win streak come to a halt as they fell to Presbyterian College, 47-61, in a non-conference match-up in the Templeton Center on the campus of Presbyterian College.
 
SC State (4-4) shot a dismal 37.8 percent from the field and had just one offensive rebound for the entire game. The one bright spot for the Lady Bulldogs was its shooting from the charity stripe, where they shot 93.3 percent (14-15).
 
Senior Sophilia Hipps was the only Lady Bulldog to score in double-figures with 14 points. Junior Joi Walker pulled down 11 rebounds to lead SC State in the loss.
 
Presbyterian College (1-9) was paced by Mariah Pietrowski who scored a game-high 21 points. The Blue Hose had three players to score in double-figures as Amanda Mills scored 14; Devin Fothergill scored 12 and Pietrowski. Dria David led the Presbyterian College in rebounding with seven.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville, FL, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 17-18, to participate in the North Florida Tournament. SC State will open the tournament with host North Florida on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will play face Jacksonville State on Friday at 2 p.m. SC State will close out the 2009 calendar year in Durham, NC on December 30 when they face North Carolina Central University.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will open the 2010 New Year on January 4 at Savannah State. The team will open its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, January 9 when they travel to Princess Anne, MD to face the Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
