ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State student-athlete earned yet another record-breaking performance in the 2026 spring semester, posting a record department-wide term grade point average 3.271 grade point average (GPA).

South Carolina State, with nearly 300 student-athletes combined to register new record for athletics with all 14 teams posting a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.

The 50 graduating seniors are the highest number of graduates in several years for SC State with 201 student-athletes recording a GPA 3.0-4.0 overall.

On the men's side men's tennis posted the highest GPA with a 3.343 followed by football at 3.136, men's basketball 3.179, men's indoor track 3.092, men's outdoor track 3.092 and men's cross country at 3.002.

On the women's side, women's tennis finished with the highest GPA overall at 3.850, followed by women's soccer 3.474, women's cross country 3.467, women's volleyball 3.368, women's softball 3.356, women's indoor and outdoor track are tied at 3.188, followed by women's basketball at 3.064.

South Carolina State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 14 sports: women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer and football with all teams competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), except for women's soccer.
