ORANGEBURG, S.C. —Slowing shooting from the start seem to be the deciding factor as South Carolina State women's basketball dropped a tough, 84-41, decision to visiting Norfolk State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup Saturday (Jan.17) afternoon at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Shaunice Reed scored nine points to lead South Carolina State (5-14, 2-2). The Bulldogs shot just 24.5% from the field and 3 of 18 from 3-point range, including just eight points in the third quarter. S.C. State's bench accounted for 23 of its 41 points.
Da'Brya Clark scored a game-high 30 points going 9 of 22 from the field — including 9 of 17 from 3-point range — while adding five assists and four steals as the Spartans (8-11, 3-1 MEAC) in the win.
South Carolina State falls to 2-2 in league play, while Norfolk State improves to 3-1.
