ORANGEBURG, SC—Senior quarterback
Ryan Stubblefield threw 21-of-35 for a team-high 286-yards and a touchdown to lead the South Carolina State Bulldogs to a thrilling 55-41 non-conference win over visiting Bethune-Cookman Saturday (Sept.13) night inside Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 overall, while the Wildcats fall to 0-3 on the season.
Mason Pickett-Hicks led the rushing attack with four (4) carries for 87-yards, while
Tyler Smith added 11 rushes for 53-yards each with a score respectively.
Jordan Smith was the leader for the receiving corps with nine (9) catches for 87-yards and a score.
Roderick Kelly spearheaded the Bulldog defense with 10 tackles (5) solo and
Tyler Jones chipped in six (6). Special teams were led by
Nico Cavanillas Alti with a perfect 7-of-7 PATS along with nailing a pair of field goals of 44 and 41-yards in the win.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will hit the road to take on FBS opponent South Florida Saturday (Sept. 20) in Tampa, Florida. Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
