Women’s Soccer On The Road At Gardner-Webb Sunday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The South Carolina State women's soccer team is back in action on Sunday (Aug. 31) evening, on the road to take on Gardner-Webb inside Greene-Harbison Stadium

BULLDOG BITES
  • South Carolina State captured its first win of the season and under first-year head coach Andrew Richardson in a 2-1 victory over Alabama State (Aug. 22nd).
  • That marked the first win over a Division I opponent since 2019.
  • Kayla Moses leads the way for SCSU with two goals scored in four contests.
  • Goalkeeper Jada Gittings has nine (9) saves to date.
  • The Lady Bulldog defense has only allowed 5 goals score this season as has the smallest roster in Division I women's soccer with just 14 players.
 
GARDNER-WEBB NOTES
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a tight 2-1 loss against Wofford on Thursday night, with the Terriers scoring a second-half winner to cancel out the Gardner-Webb opener
  • Junior forward Olivia Tribolet scored her first GWU goal at Queens, with a header off an assist by freshman forward Taryn Pekala who recorded her first collegiate assist
  • Gardner-Webb played a total of 25 different players at Queens two weeks ago, including eight off the bench who saw at least 20 minutes of action.
SERIES NOTES
  • Gardner-Webb holds an 11-1 all-time record as an NCAA Division I school against SC State, including a pair of wins last season.
  • SC State scored its only win in the series in 2013, a 2-0 Bulldogs win in Orangeburg.

The university currently fields teams in 14 sports: women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer and football with all teams competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), except for women's soccer.
