South Carolina State Honors Student-Athletes at Athletic Banquet

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State athletic department honored its student-athletes at its annual athletic awards banquet on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Several standout athletes were recognized from their prospective sports for being top performers as well as top athlete academically this past season.

The department also recognized 10 student athletes with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA, as well as student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher. GPAs are through the fall 2024 term.

 A pair of standout tennis performers were highlighted with men's tennis player Luka Stefanvoic for maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA during his career along with Danica Nedejkovic with a 3.86 GPA respectively.

Sofya Chursina was recognized as the 2nd player in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) history to earn MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year three years in a row, along with the MEAC Most Outstanding Performer. Chursina also captured MEAC Rookie of the Year during her freshman campaign and has been apart of four straight MEAC Championships.

The women tennis 2025 MEAC Championship run marks South Carolina State's 19th overall MEAC Women's Tennis Championship title, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in the conference under the leadership of Coach Hardeep Judge, who was named MEAC Women's Coach of the Year. 

On the men's side, this year's MEAC Championship win marks South Carolina State's 20th overall MEAC Men's Tennis Championship title, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in the conference.

The 2024 South Carolina State Bulldog football team made their presence known under first-year head coach Chennis Berrry capturing the school's 19th league title and 2nd Cricket Wireless Celebration Bow Berth. Berry would go on to earn several Coach of the Year honors and several Bulldogs were named to the All-MEAC and All-America Teams for their efforts.

Track & Field honored several of their top performers who posted PR's during the 2nd Annual Shardonda Coleman-Singleton Classic. Robert Carter earned the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Award, while Christian Washington was named Robert "Jet" Johnson Award Recipient.

A special presentation was made for the Team of the Year the SC State Men's Basketball Team by representatives from Founder's Credit Union. 

Men's Basketball reached a milestone for the first time in 22 years. The Bulldogs captured the 2025 MEAC Regular Season Title along with several earning postseason honors and Head Coach
Martin was named MEAC COY and Davion Everett was named MEAC 6th Man of the Year.
