INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The South Carolina State women's tennis team drew Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament as announced Monday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs will face the No. 7 Tigers on Friday, May 2 at 2:00 P.M. ET.
South Carolina State earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after capturing the 2025 MEAC Women's Tennis Championship, the program's sixth consecutive title and 19th overall.
Led by Head Coach Hardeep Judge, the Bulldogs claimed the 2025 title after two dominant 4-0 performances over No. 4 Norfolk State in the semifinals and No. 2 seed North Carolina Central in the championship match.
Sofya Chursina was named the tournament's Outstanding Performer, while Coach Judge received Outstanding Coach honors.
This marks the Bulldogs' fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, S.C. State faced Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Saturday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between the S.C. State and Auburn women's tennis programs.
Auburn enters the NCAA Tournament with a 23-6 record after falling to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament semifinals.
