Bulldogs Capture Sixth Straight Victory With Win Over UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, MD—Graduate guard Omar Croskey recorded the games only double-double with a team-high 20 points, 12 rebounds and two steals to lead South Carolina State to their sixth straight victory over UMES Monday (Feb.24) night inside Hytche Center.

South Carolina State improves to 15-12 overall, 8-3 in the MEAC and moves into 2nd place in the league race, while UMES falls to 4-22 overall, 0-10 in the league.  This is the first time in 22 years the Bulldogs have captured six consecutive wins since the 2003-04 team conquered that feat.

Sophomore forward Drayton Jones finished with 18 points and six rebounds, while off the bench Mitchell Taylor added 12 points and four rebounds and Colin McKenzie chipped in 10 respectively.

Despite the lofty 20 turnovers, the Bulldogs dominated in several categories including points off turnovers (21-18), fast break points (9-6), bench points (34-29) and rebounds 43-29.

NEXT UP: The Bulldogs will round out regular season play with three straight home games beginning with Norfolk State on March.1, Howard on March. 3rd , followed by NC Central on March 6th . All the games will be played in Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
