ORANGEBURG, SC—Four players scored double figures as
Jayden Johnson and
Owen Bronston, Jr. tossed in 16 points each respectively, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough 78-28 loss to USC Upstate Tuesday (Dec. 16) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
South Carolina State falls to 0-12 on the season, while USC Upstate improves to 7-6 overall.
Newcomer
Chris Parker added 15 points and seven (7) rebounds, while
Noah Treadwell finished with 12.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs led in several categories including fast break points (10-7) and bench points (33-19).
Mason Bendinger led the way for the Spartans with 19 points.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will close out the homestand for the year on Friday (Dec. 18) versus Brewton-Parker College home in a 12-noon start.
