ORANGEBURG, SC—Six Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures as the South Carolina State Women's Basketball team cruised to an 102-34 win over Morris College Wednesday (Nov. 5) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
First-year head coach
Cedric W. Baker posted his first win at the helm of the Lady Bulldog program.
"I am proud of my team we are able to get an opening win here at home," said Baker. "I appreciate the fans, the band and most of all the supporters coming out and creating and positive atmosphere here at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center."
Senior guard
Angie Juste-Jean led the way with a game-high 18 points, nine (9) rebounds and six (6) steals, while newcomer
Mya Byrd added 15 points, six (6) assist and three (3) steals. In a reserve role
Shaunice Reed came off the bench finished with 13 points and five (5) rebounds.
SCSU for the first time in the modern-day era amassed a 100-point scoring effort along with forcing a team-best 45 turnovers in the win.
Lemyiah Harris,
Heaven Harper and Miya Giles all finished with 10 points each respectively in the win.
Morris College was led by Quindia Nelson with a team-high 12 points.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 11) at home versus visiting Trinity Baptist College inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m.
