ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's basketball team captured their second straight win in a 108-42 win over Trinity College of Jackson Tuesday (Nov.12) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Mya Byrd led the way with a team-high 17 points and three (3) assists, while guard
Shaunice Reed added 15 points and six (6) steals in the win. Lemyiah Harris chipped in 14 points and five (5) assists and
Janiah Hinton finished with 13 points.
Angie Juste-Jean and
Heaven Harper controlled the boards with 10 rebounds and six (6) point each respectively.
The Lady Bulldogs defense was tenacious forcing a school best 38 turnovers along with 25 steals as a team on the day.
As a team SCSU knocked down 11 three pointers dominating in every category including points in the paint (56-20), points off turnovers (48-8), second chance points (24-0), fast break points (30-5), bench points (58-18) and rebounding (48-21).
NEXT UP: South Carolina State welcomes SEC foe the University of Georgia to Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center in an pivotal non-conference showdown. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
