CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina State women's soccer team is back in action for a Wednesday afternoon matchup against in-state foe Charleston Southern. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at CSU Soccer Field.

BULLDOG BITE
  • The Bulldogs (2-10-0) enter Wednesday's matchup after a 4-0 loss at Grambling State. Both of SC State's wins this season have come at home, with victories over Allen (2-0) and Alabama A&M (1-0).
  • Junior forward Alana Watts leads the Bulldogs with four goals and eight points, while Karla Gordon and Kayla Moses have each added three goals apiece. Watts has accounted for 36% of the team's scoring output this season.
  • Defensively, SC State has allowed 3.17 goals per game, conceding multiple goals in eight of 12 matches. Goalkeeper Jada Gittings leads the Bulldogs with 34 saves.
  • SC State is led by first year head coach Andrew Richardson.

About the BUCS 
  • CSU earned its fourth tie of the season with a 1-1 draw against High Point last Saturday. Cadance Bell netted her second goal of the year off a free-kick assist from Rachel Gopalakrishnan, who tallied her first collegiate assist.
  • The Buccaneers return 12 players from a 2024 squad that finished with a 5-7-3 record and missed out on the Big South Tournament.
  • CSU welcomed 12 talented newcomers to the 2025 roster this summer, 10 of which are freshmen.
  • Head Coach Jose Gomez enters his sixth season at the helm for the Buccaneers. 
ABOUT SC STATE ATHLETICS
South Carolina State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 14 sports: women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer and football with all teams competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), except for women's soccer.
