Volleyball Displays Strong Showing in Terrier Invite

SPARTANBURG, SC—Despite the outcome, the South Carolina State Women's Volleyball team posted a strong showing in the Terrier Invite host by Wofford College over the weekend at the Jerry Richardson Indoor stadium.

South Carolina State (1-8) dropped contests to Wofford (0-3), Valparaiso (0-3) and Presbyterian (0-3) in tourney play.

IN GAME 1: vs Wofford-Hailey Harris finished with a team-high seven (7) kills, while Xaria Pickett added five (5). Pickett added two (2) aces, while Kaia Barnett tallied 14 assist and Trinity Stevenson nine (9) digs.

IN GAME 2: vs Valparaiso-Harris was on top of her game once again with six (6) kills, while Pickett added five (5). Pickett delivered once again with two (2) aces, while Shamira Andrews chipped in two (2) blocks. Barnett continues to display her talents with nine (9) assist and Stevenson with nine (9) digs.

IN GAME 3: vs. PC—Junior McKinley Roach and Hailey Harris each finished with four (4) kills, while Hedia Lewis added three (3) in the tough loss.  Harris contributed two (2) aces, while Shamira Andrews two (2) blocks and Barnett once again with a team-high 10 assist along with Trinity Stevenson's game-high 18 digs.

NEXT UP: South Carolina State travel back to Spartanburg for a mid-week battle with USC-Upstate Tuesday (Sept. 24) in a 6 p.m. start.

ABOUT SC STATE ATHLETICS
South Carolina State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 14 sports: women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer and football with all teams competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), except for women's soccer.
