WASHINGTON, DC- The South Carolina State softball team fell short in an Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series versus Howard over the weekend at the Nationals Youth Academy-Facilities.

The Bison captured the series win 3-0 to improve to 21-7 overall, 5-1 in the MEAC, while SC State dropped to 4-16 overall, 2-4 in the league.

In Game 1 (Final Score 9-11):Â The Bison defeated the Lady Bulldogs 9-11 in the weekend series opener Saturday (Mar. 23) evening. SC State went on an early 9-6 lead after the second inning but went scoreless, while the Bison added four runs in the fourth inning and one in the sixth to take the lead and capture the win. Senior,
DeAsia Lowther led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits and sophomore
Taylor Ames-Alexander added with three runs batted in.

In Game 2 (Final Score 4-6):Â After being down five runs and racking in 13 hits, SCSU rallied back to pull within two runs but fell short as Howard was able to sustain and secure the win. Ames-Alexander led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits and two runs batted in. SC State's defense made zero errors along with
Kylie Nelson finishing with eight fielding chances.

In Game 3 (Final Score 0-7):Â The Bison completed a shutout on Sunday (Mar. 24) afternoon posting six runs in the fifth inning to secure the win.
Destiny Calloway batted 2-4 at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs. The defense held strong not committing a single error.
Kauree Munyan led the charge on defense with five made plays.
Next Up:Â South Carolina State will return home to host fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) member Morgan State University in a three-game series at the Lady Bulldogs Softball Field on March 29
