ORANGEBURG, SC—Sophomore forward
Drayton Jones tossed in career-high 34 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead South Carolina State to an impressive 82-63 win over Charleston Southern Monday (Dec.9) night inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Jones also got it done on a defensive front while finishing 13-of-17 from the field he added six (6) blocks, two (2) steals and shot 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Senior forward
Davion Everett chipped in nine (9) points, while teammates
Colin McKenzie and
Caleb McCarty added eight (8) each respectively.
The Bulldogs dominated in just about every category including points in the paint (52-40), points off turnovers (16-4), bench points (22-12) and second chance points (12-2).
South Carolina State improves to 4-6 on the season, while Charleston Southern falls to 3-9.
The Buccaneers were led by Taje' Kelly with a team-high 25 points.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will be on the road at Furman (Dec.14) and USC-Upstate on Dec. 18.
