ORANGEBURG, SC— The South Carolina State women's tennis open the 2023 campaign in dominating fashion in a, 7-0, win over visiting Francis Marion Sunday (Jan. 28) inside the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.
The defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Champions (MEAC) captured the doubles point early on with Chursina/Hind defeating Seidewitz/Venghaus (6-2) and Silva/Vujicic won 6-1 over Martincova/Gontaryk respectively.
In singles action, at the No. 1 spot
Sofiya Chursina def. Seidewitz (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) in three sets; at the No. 2 spot
Hind Semlali def. Martincova (6-1,6-4); at the No. 3 spot
Rachida Berjane def. Venghaus (7-5,6-2); at the No.4 spot
Nalanda Silva def. Gontaryk (6-3, 6-0); at the No. 5 spot
Teodora Vujicic def. Hansen (6-1,6-1) and at the No.6 spot
Feriel Mahbouli def. Pinto (6-0, 6-0).
