THROWBACK THURSDAY: A LOOK BACK IN TIME

ROBERT LEE GEATHERS (Football/Track and Field 1987-1990) A native of Georgetown, SC -- Was an outstanding defensive player for South Carolina State during his undergraduate Years (1987-1990).
  • Among the most dominant players in the MEAC as a senior, earning Player of the Week accolades three times and All-MEAC honors.
  •  Was a third-round selection by the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League …spent three seasons with the Bills.
  • ·Was an outstanding thrower for the SC State track team.
PERSONAL: Returned to his Georgetown community after his professional career and opened a car dealership and has been one of the area's top businessmen…served for years on the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Board, and was also a Board member of the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Commission…He is also a Justice of the Peace and a Trustee at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church…As an assistant football coach at alma mater, Choppee High, and later Carvers Bay High, he was part of four state championships…Remarkably, he and his wife Deborah, have three sons who played in the National Football League: Kwame, Robert, Jr. and Clifton…His brother Jumpy, who played for Coach Willie Jeffries at Wichita State, also enjoyed a pro career in the NFL…His 80-year old mother, Martha, is scheduled to attend the Enshrinement Ceremony
