ORANGEBURG, S.C. –South Carolina State suffered a setback in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekend series on the road at Delaware State (0-3) and Maryland Eastern Shore (1-3).
In the first match versus Delaware State (13-25, 20-25, 8-25): The Lady Hornets defeated the Lady Bulldogs Friday (Oct. 6th) evening inside Memorial Hall.
Kiyah Felder led the way with eight kills, while
Hailey Harris contributed four kills, two aces, and a block.
Kaia Barnett dished out 14 assists, while
Trinity Stevenson added seven digs in the loss.
In the second match versus Maryland Eastern Shore (20-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-25): Coach Paige's team showed great resilience in the match despite the loss, and it was undoubtedly one of the best conference matches today. The Lady Bulldogs took the Lady Hawks to four sets after pushing out a win in the third set. Leading the front line of the offensive was
Hailey Harris with 13 kills, three aces, and three blocks. Not far behind,
Kiyah Felder tallied nine kills while
Eleisha Thompson tabbed seven kills.
Kaia Barnett continues to set the charge while contributing 23 assists. On the back row,
Miya Benson, and
Trinity Stevenson each contributed 10 digs.
Up Next: South Carolina State will host MEAC rival North Carolina Central in a pivotal match Friday (Oct. 13
th) inside Historic Dukes Gymnasium.
