ORANGEBURG, SC - The South Carolina State women's soccer team suffered yet another setback in a 5-1 decision to Jacksonville Wednesday (Aug. 31
st) inside Oliver. C Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
Jacksonville (2-0-1) posted their first goal after Madison Niehaus scored from the left side at the 7:00 minute mark. From there, Jacksonville scored two more goals by Katherine Solis with assists from Alisha Mainwaring and Madison Niehaus and Isabella Ruggiano scoring off a right kick.
Incoming freshman
Simone Miranda (Pawtucket, RI) scored her first collegiate career goal in the first half at the 27
th mark off of a corner kick for SC State (0-4) making the score 1-3.
Jacksonville scored two more at the bottom of the first half by Anaya Black.
The Lady Bulldogs defense held tough as both teams went scoreless in the second half. Goalkeeper, freshman
Chloe Anderson (Hendersonville, TN), recorded seven saves in the loss.
SC State will look to turn things around this Sunday, Sept. 4 when they host the College of Charleston, with the first kick at 1 p.m., followed by a Wednesday, Sept. 7 showdown versus Winthrop University at 6 p.m.
