ORANGEBURG,SC-- South Carolina State, fresh off winning the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women's tennis championship, will face the No. 1 overall seed North Carolina in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Div. I Women's Tennis Championship on Friday.
The match will be played at a time to be determined in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The winner of Friday's first-round match will face either Arkansas or Old Dominion in the second round on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (6-4) defeated Florida A&M 4-0 on Sunday, April 25 for their 15th overall MEAC title and their 14th in the last 16 seasons. They boast MEAC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year

The Tar Heels are 26-0 and have won their fifth straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) title. They boast the ACC Player of the Year in Sara Daavettila and the ACC Coach of the Year in Brian Kalbas.
