Riley Set To Return SC State For Final Season

ORANGEBURG, SC—Former South Carolina State men's basketball standout Tashombe Riley is set return to the men's basketball program for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

"Tashombe reached out to me during the spring and asked would I have any interest in him returning to our program, "said head men's basketball coach Murray Garvin.

Riley was sidelined after an injury this past season and was unable to compete for South Alabama during the 2018-19 season.

"After talking with him (Tashombe) my answer was of course you can come back home. He was cleared by our doctors and athletic training staff and pending a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA he will be back in a South Carolina State uniform this coming season."

Prior to transferring to South Alabama, Riley had his best season as a junior averaging 12 points and five (5) rebounds per game and was ranked among one of the best forwards in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

During his time as a Bulldog he amassed over 811 career points and grabbed over 437 rebounds in three years.

Garvin noted, "We have also added 6'5 swing man Omar Croskey of Sumter High School and Rashaan Edwards a 5'11-point guard of St. Maria Goretti H.S. in Maryland to our stellar recruiting class. There will be several new faces to our program with our core guys also returning next season.  We are really excited about the possibilities for the upcoming season."
