ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's tennis split a pair of victories against Duquesne University Tuesday (March. 1) at the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs (1-2) posted their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory.

SC State won the doubles point early on in the match. On the singles side, Jakub Vitek def. Dimitris Stavropoulos, 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot; Vladyslav Yanchenko def. Adam Blasinsky 6-2, 6-2 at the No.3 spot; Jan Brenk def. Chris Carro 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot and Stanislav Baco def. Harry Walshe 6-2, 4-6, and 1-0 at the No.6 spot.

Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-6 on the season after a 6-1 loss to Duquesne.

DU claimed the doubles point over the Lady Bulldogs.  Junior Marketa Marcanikova posted the only single victory for SC State with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Megan Wasson.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday (March. 8) versus Campbell in a 12 noon non-conference matchup at the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center. Meanwhile, the men host UNC-Wilmington on Saturday (March.5) in a 1 p.m. showdown.
