ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's tennis team snapped a four-game losing skid with an 6-1 win over Savannah State Wednesday (2/17/16) at the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.

This was the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match for both teams with  South Carolina State improving to 1-4 overall, 1-0 MEAC and Savannah State falling to 0-6 overall, 0-1 in the league.

South Carolina State captured the doubles point with Vasic/Marcanikova def. Lochu/Geronimo 6-2 and Filippova/Roca winning over Burrows/Williams 6-0.

In singles action Intissar Rassif def. Sandy Lochu 6-3, 6-2 at the No.1 spot; junior Andjela Vasic def. Rachida Kateb 6-2,6-4 at the No. 3 spot; junior Marketa Maracanikova def. Bria Burrows 6-0,6-0 at the No.4 spot; junior Dakota Brown def. Jennyfer Vivas 5-7,6-1,1-0 at the No. 5 spot and sophomore Carla Petreanu def. Tiffany Williams 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 Spot.

Next up the Lady Bulldogs hit the road to take on Stetson University Sunday (Feb.21) in a non-conference road match in Deland, Florida. First serve begins at 3 p.m.
