THE SERIES: Hampton holds a 20-18 lead over South Carolina State since the Pirates moved to Division I in 1995. The last time the two teams met the Bulldogs defeated the Pirates 65-56 in Orangeburg, SC. Prior to last season, Hampton had won four straight meetings between the two teams, and the Pirates are 10-6 against the Bulldogs at home.

Gabriel McCray also scores in double figures at 11.5, while three other players score at least 7 points per contest. SC State has also done well with the ball, averaging just 11.5 turnovers per game, best in the league by almost a full turnover.
HAMPTON PIRATESThe Pirates (11-7 overall, 7-0 MEAC) are the top-ranked team in the conference and last year's tournament MEAC Champion. Hampton has won seven-straight league games and remains unbeaten. The Pirates have three players in double-figures with All-MEAC performer Quinton Chievous leading the way with 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Reginald Johnson is second with 17.1 ppg, while Brian Darden is adds 14.6 points per contest.
