MACON, Ga. – The South Carolina State women's volleyball fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-20) to Mercer University on Saturday at Hawkins Arena.

Senior setter Melanie Williams had a double-double of 23 assists and 10 digs to lead the Lady Bulldogs (0-8). Freshman right side Brianna Dafney had nine kills, seven digs, one service ace and one block assist and sophomore middle hitter Kiana Stone hit .300 with four kills and 1.5 total blocks.

SC State opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this Friday. The Lady Bulldogs host Florida A&M 7 p.m. on Friday and Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
