Box Score MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – After a scoreless first half, the College of Charleston women's soccer team scored two second-half goals to defeat South Carolina State 2-1 on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.
The Cougars (4-3) scored goals in the 54th and 67th minutes to take a 2-0 lead over the Lady Bulldogs (1-6). With just 3:05 left in the match, however, freshman midfielder Brandy Vaca scored her first career goal to prevent the shutout.
Senior goalkeeper Haley Austin fell to 1-6 one the season after allowing two goals and saving seven shots.
SC State is off until Sept. 29 when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on USC Upstate at 7 p.m.
