CAYCE, S.C. – Ten-time defending champion South Carolina State University was able to hold off a hot North Carolina Central University squad with a 4-1 win in the semifinals of the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.

The Lady Bulldogs claimed the doubles point early. In singles action, sophomore Marketa Marcanikova def. Ekaterina Nekrasova (7-5, 6-2) at the No. 3 spot; freshman Andjela Vasic def. Mia Ramic (6-4, 6-1) at the No. 4 spot; and freshman Smaranda Petreanv def. Tamara Jeremic (6-0, 6-3) at the No. 6 spot.

SC State advance to the finals and moved over .500 at 9-8 heading into the championship match against Bethune-Cookman University. The Lady Bulldogs  will look to avenge an early season  5-2 defeat to BC-U and will try and retain its league championship title for an 11th consecutive year.
