South Carolina State "Senior Day" Women's Tennis Photo GalleryORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's tennis team posted an impressive ,4-3, defeat over visiting Florida A&M Saturday (March 28) in Mid-Eastern Athletic (MEAC) tennis play at the
Hardeep Judge Tennis Courts.
SC State honored lone senior Victorria Khateci or Russia in a ceremony before the match. Khateci was a member of three championship women's tennis teams.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in the MEAC and 6-7 overall, while FAMU falls to 6-10 overall and 3-1 in the league. This is the 11
th straight victory over the Lady Rattlers.
FAMU jumped out to a quick start claiming the doubles point early on with Blackwood/Robinson def. Marcanikova/Petreauu 8-3 and Henry/Dean winning over Filippova/Duarte 8-5.
In women's singles victories, it was sophomore
Oleksandra Filippova def. Symone Towsend (6-4,6-2) at the No. 1 spot; sophomore
Intissar Rassif def. Alexis Dean (6-0,6-4) at the No. 2 spot; sophomore
Dakota Brown def. Arrice Robinson (6-2, 1-6, 6-2) at the No. 5 spot and freshman
Smaranda Petreanv def. Elysia Ortiz 6-1,6-3 at the No.6 spot.
South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (April 4) against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, FL.
