Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina A&T women's basketball team handed South Carolina State a 59-48 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss on Monday night at the Corbett Sports Center.
A&T (8-8, 2-2 MEAC) got on the board first with a layup by Kayla Green with 17:52 left in the first half. SC State (8-7, 1-3 MEAC) took its only lead of the game (13-12) on a bucket by
Ashleigh Outler at the 6:13 mark. A layup by April McCrae with 16 seconds left in the opening period gave the Lady Aggies a 25-16 lead at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs managed 32 points in the second half, but it was not enough for the win. The closest they got was within three, 36-33, after a 3-point play by
Jasmine Coleman with 11:09 left in the game.
Mcrae led A&T with 14 points, while Dana Brown had 10 points. Eboni Ross had a game-high three blocks.
Kourtney Williams scored a game-high 20 points and
Toni Grier led the Lady Bulldogs on the boards with seven rebounds.
SC State travels to Dover, Del. to play at Delaware State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
