Lady Bulldogs Tennis Team Split On Road

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's tennis teams split a pair of matches over the weekend to improve to 1-1on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped a tough season-opener to Charleston Southern, 6-1, on Saturday before bouncing back to knock off #4 nationally-ranked Savannah College  of Art & Design (SCAD), 6-1, of the NAIA Conference on Sunday.

SC State dominated with impressive fashion earning the doubles point early on at the No.1 spot 8-2 (Dohnolova/Rassif) and No. 3 spot 8-3 (Filippova/Van Der Goot).

In singles action, sophomore Klara Dohanlova def. Daniell Arcila , 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot; junior Victoriia Khatcei def. Maja Plavsic,7-5, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot; freshman Intissar Rassif def. Canolia Viteri, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 4 spot; freshman Marketa Marcanikova def.Maria Barrajan, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot and freshman Nynke Van Der Goot knocked off Isdera Sclvetti, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot to earn the victory.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Friday (Feb.21) in a non-conference matchup with SEC foe University of South Carolina. First serve begins at 1 p.m.
