Game NotesInside the Game: SC State hosts Alabama A&M in a 1 p.m. game on Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a tough 70-50 loss at UNC Greensboro on Thursday. In that game, SC State shot 31.7 percent (19-of-60) for the game, was outrebounded 44-43 and had 26 turnovers.
Jahmia Bradley and
Kourtney Williams each had a team-high 10 points, while
Jasmine Coleman led the defense with seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
Alabama A&M – also called the Lady Bulldogs – is still in search of its first win of the season and is currently 0-7. AAMU's latest loss was an 88-64 defeat by East Tennessee State last Saturday. On the season, Brittany Strickland leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points and rebounding with 4.3 rebounds per game. Alganese Gatson is also averaging 4.3 rebounds per contest.
Last Meeting: SC State and Alabama A&M faced off last season in Huntsville, Ala. with AAMU coming out with an 81-78 win.
Kourtney Williams led SC State with a game-high 23 points. Brittany Strickland poured in a team-high 21 points for AAMU.
Birthday Performance: Junior forward
Jasmine Coleman celebrated her 21
st birthday with a big performance on the court on Thursday at UNCG. She matched her career-high in rebounds with seven (team-high) and set a new career mark with four blocked shots (team-high). She also added seven points and three steals to her performance.
Looking Ahead: SC State closes out the year with three games, two at home and one on the road. The Lady Bulldogs host Jacksonville State on Dec. 16 (6 p.m.) and College of Charleston on Dec. 28 (4 p.m.) and they travel to Clemson on Dec. 21 (2 p.m.).
